PLEASE READ: Woman jailed for a year for accusing her husband of rape

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1939283,00.html

Sally Henderson has been named, shamed, and jailed for "falsely accusing" her husband of rape. She still insists she is telling the truth. The evidence that she is lying? She also claimed her ex-boyfriend raped her. Neither man was charged because they simply did not believe her.

As there is no evidence that she is lying, she could well have been repeatedly raped and jailed for it.

And this won't deter rape victims coming forward how?

She's a "wicked liar"? Unbelievable.

It does make sense however, that they would limit the number of rape allegations a women could make in her lifetime. Otherwise, men might have to pay for their actions.

Fuckers. The allegations were almost exactly the same - what, that two men treated a woman like their personal sex servant? Surely not.

Do you know if there is a way of writing to prisoners? It would be good to be able to write to her and tell her we believe her.

The scariest thing about all this is that when she's out of prison (or even in prison?) she will be easy prey for any man who wants to rape in the knowledge that they will get away with it.

Writing to her sounds like an excellent idea. I will see if I can find out an address.

The sentence of one year is outrageous, completely OTT and inappropriate.

Rape cases have less than 6% success rate. Nearly 95% of cases the defendant-scumbag will be found 'innocent'. This case has serious ramifications in stopping women coming forward to report rape. More and more women are being charged with 'perverting the course of justice' when their cases rely solely on HER WORD AGAINST HIS (and that is probably the majority of rape cases).

We HAVE to do something about this.

Actually, I have now put out 'feelers' in two directions, in order to find out which prison she has been sent to (one was the HMP locating service).

Will let everyone know when I have a result.

In thinking about it, we should not make public which prison she is in (so she doesn't receive hate mail). But I will be happy to supply contact details to known and trusted persons such as yourselves, when I get the address.

They are making the law up as they go along! I said on Stormys it's like something out of the early-modern witch hunts.

I wonder if the 'one time only report limit' applies to other crimes like burglary or car theft?
Or just rape?

fuckers.

Man With A Bald Head reckons that there would be a 100% conviction rate for women accused of perverting the cause of justice or wasting police time re "false" rape allegations. Any one know any stats?

I don't know the stats, but it is an increasing trend by the coppers to charge women with PTCOJ regarding rape allegations that have been discontinued one way or another.

I know. I think he might be right though, that any woman charged with the crime of making a "false" rape report has no chance of being acquitted. Is there a case that disputes this?

Witch, trials, reminds, of...

I wonder if when I wrote "perverting the cause of justice" it was a Freudian spelling mistake.

I dunno Jo22, I myself see it more as "perverts in the course of justice" - most of those judges are beyond belief.

I have received a letter back from the Prisoner Location Service:

I acknowledge receipt of your enquiry received on 8/11/06 concerning the whereabouts of S Henderson.
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, we are unable to confirm or deny that a person is in prison custody without first obtaining their consent.
Your enquiry may take three to four weeks to process.

As they are going to take so long to confirm her whereabouts, I have written to her at the prison in which she has most likely been sent. Fingers crossed.

Excellent. Hope she gets it. If not, we can bombard her with letters in 3 to 4 weeks!

Out of curiosity how would you improve conviction rates of the "Scumbag Defendants" when it has been admitted that it is "HER WORD AGAINST HIS", which under any criminal court should result in a not guilty verdict being returned without other evidence to support it?
