I'm reading Carol Shields' "The Stone Diaries". It's good, but I preferred "Unless". If you like fiction, read it.
The unfairness of this - that a single dramatic episode can shave the fine thistles from a woman's life. But then the world is bewitched by the possibility of sudden reversal, of blood, of the urgent need to reframe simple arrangements. Daisy Goodwill Hoad's honeymoon tragedy, so strange in its turnings, so unanticipated, blurs the ordinary outlines of her ongoing life which, if the truth were told, is quiet, agreeable and not all that different from the next person's.
I tag Anji (Shut Up, Sit Down), Witchy-woo (Well, I'll go to the foot of my stairs), and Bea (Dead Men Don't Rape).
The instructions:Find the nearest book.Turn to page 123.Go to the fifth sentence on the page.Copy out the next three sentences and post to your blog.Name the book and the author, and tag three more folks.

What if the book next to me should have only 58 pages and not a single page has more than 5 sentences?
Pick up the one the other side of you and stop reading silly books.
